Guess It Shows...

I get so single minded when I'm about to head out on a trip that I seem to spend so little time on-line that one would think I've already left! But I haven't.

I head out in two days time for a two week road trip that I hope will be a lot of fun, and I believe will be very interesting as well. Other than that life has been pretty simple of late for me. I've made a few discoveries... like Brown Rice Snaps taste a lot better than the name sounds... and living the Celiac Lifestyle, ie Gluten Free, and adding in the Casein (ie dairy) free, isn't as bad as it sounds. It's a challenge to be sure, and definitely removes a lot of the fun and ease from life... but it is living, and that is a mighty fine thing to be doing!

Found out last night this little bit is on the Outback Steakhouse website:

Outback Steakhouse, in coorperation with the Gluten Intolerance Group TM, are now providing a Gluten-Free Menu. Click here for more information.

Way to go OUTBACK!

I was told that many local chains are not aware of this menu, so Celiac's should print it and take a copy with them to the restaurant, but if you arrive with it in hand you'll be well taken care of.

I read today that Lorenzo Lamas is doing a movie for PaxTV.

I know lots of jokes flow about the guy with the great hair who used to ride that motorcycle on Renegade -- but the fact of the matter is he's a nice, relatively down to earth guy. I worked with him several years ago and enjoyed working with such this very professional actor. He always knew his lines, his marks, everything. Entertaining others came across as mattering to him... so I'm curious about this PAX TV movie.

Part of what makes Soap Operas fun is the simple knowledge that characters rarely if ever change, and yet, even when they stay 100% true to character they manage to surprise you!

Pyllis nearly spent the rest of her life in jail for getting on Diane's badside, and just days after she narrowly escapes she's on Diane's doorstep, pushing her buttons.

Ah yes, soaps can be fun!

(Oh, and on the some characters just never change bit -- time and again Jack falls in love with crazy lunatics! What a character trait!)

Today was another fun experiment -- home made fruit smoothies!

I've made them before -- but back in the days when I was allowed to have yogurt, so today it was soy milk instead, but still very tasty!

Life can be good -- even when it seems most of the good food on the planet is forbidden fruit.

Some days... I hate to admit this... but some days I dream of being able to go to a restaurant and just order something off the menu. Anything -- just as it is, off the menu!

Those with Celiac disease will understand that it just isn't easy to find something you can order as is. I've got to worry not only about Gluten, but Casein as well. So no Wheat, Oat, Rye, Barley or Dairy.

Tonight we went to Chilis. I love the Mushroom Jack Fajitas, but as you might have guessed right off the bat I have to say no Jack! Then there's no flour tortillas, and no Cheese or Sour Cream on the side dish.

Some days I think these poor waiters have to fill an enter order chit with a long list of NOs and if I'm lucky a little food makes the cut!
