Over the past few days I've been surfing the net with regards to message boards. As many of you have undoubtedly noticed I participate in Street Teams, trying to earn prizes without upsetting or pestering people.
A friend is also on one of the street teams and said she was trying her hand at the posting contest, so I surfed the web for any board she had posted on -- and I dare say I may be officially scared off of the message board concept for the rest of my life!
There are so many harsh messages out there, people trashing on one another for their opinions and never considering phrasing it in a "kind" or non-flame way.
That you can get flamed for saying "I'm looking forward to Daredevil coming out July 29 -- am I the only one? Did you like the film? Please tell me about it since I missed it in the theater... THANKS!" is amazing to me! I've actually read replys that say only a studio plant would be willing to post such a thing. I wanted to see Daredevil before joining the street team -- so I find that comment frustrating, at best.
One board asked why my friend had several billboards in her sig -- she explained it was for a street team, and given how often we miss movies in the theater because we flake on the release date she saw no harm in putting such info in her sig, and they said cool thanks for explaining and life went on.
There is a nice way to ask! There are NICE ways to deal with other people -- but based on the boards full of less than nice people (to say it as kindly as I can) it seems doubtful I will be venturing onto message boards anytime soon. :(

I for one am finding it very hard to wait for July 29 when Daredevil comes out on DVD!
The street team has done an excellent job of getting me excited -- but the fact of the matter is that with a cast like Jennifer Garner, Ben Affleck and Colin Farrell, you can't go wrong picking up a movie like this on DVD! Grab three friends and it's far cheaper than watching it in the movie theater, and you have the option of doing an MST3K style talk through it viewing. :) Even if you just want to yell out AWESOME... or NOT. :)
And for those of us who loved Colin in Hart's War and The Recruit, we just haven't seen enough of this talented actor.
For the Jennifer Garner fans -- the summer hiatus is far too long to go without Jen on Alias... but Daredevil will at least bring that talent back to the screen.
