A Note About the Weather
It is pouring rain today, and I'm reminded of a Mark Twain passage I read long ago at the beginning of a book which was appropriately titled "About the Weather" it was a disclaimer in which he said the weather in the book was not the author's fault. (That would be the very short version)
Well, the rain here is certainly not by my design, but it does remind me the value weather can provide in a story, trapping characters indoors on a day when they would much rather be anywhere else.

Pirates of the Caribbean
I finally sat down with the DVD and watched it.
Okay, I can do without skeltons in the movies I watch, so as you might imagine I did not think it the greatest thing on earth, but what a fabulous bit of fun!
I went through the extra features and enjoyed having a maritime expert sit there and explain there were things that were done that were just wrong, and did not make sense, other than the fact they are the romanticized aspects of pirates, and make for fun stories.
And I think Disney did just that, made a fun film.
There was a time when I went to Disneyland once a year, and I loved Pirates of the Caribbean as a ride, it was a fun bit with good music. I would have enjoyed hearing a sober version of the "Yo! Ho!" song, but maybe that is just me. It was a great deal of fun watching for bits of the ride brought to life in the movie! A nice benefit for those of us who are very familiar with the ride, but certainly not required to make it a fun film to watch.
